Photo of the Month: Fraser McNeil railing a bit of our local singletrack during a test shoot for some ideas for the Royal Racing catalogue (Okay, another excuse for a good ride).

When a friend recently said, "do you mind if a mate's mate comes along on the ride?" I of course was happy to share our trail experience ahead with a new rider. Little did I know, as I launched into a "watch it down here, this trail can get a bit tech" spiel, this bloke is best mates with Danny MacAskill and was about to humble us on every piece of trail furniture ahead (yep, a little daft term I've coined recently for any obstacle that you can weave past/dodge/jump/lean against).

Pondering of the month: When a potential client says, (quote) “Dan, this really is a simple shot we need,” it generally means they either 1. Don’t understand what’s involved in getting pro-looking images to carry their product, or 2. Know full well what’s involved and are trying to get it on the cheap.

On the shelves at the mo: WMB 111 Keith Bontrager interview & Scott 2011 launch shoot, Bike (USA) 2 gallery spreads from Chamonix and Nepal, MBR (summer 10) gallery spread Majorca.

    • I may well have done. A problem for us photog’s is that so many mags seem to forget to tell us when we have work featuring in them. Some even forget to tell us to invoice. And then they forget to pay us. Send food. I need to eat.
